Community Awards 

 

Important Dates:

  • October 1st-12th | Nominations Accepted

  • October 15th | Voting for Community Champion and Best Customer Service Opens

  • October 31st | Voting for Community Champion and Best Customer Service Closes

  • November 24th | Winners Announced Live @ the 2024 Business Awards

 

Nomination Process and Eligibility:

  • Nominators are welcome to nominate any business or individual within the district of the Town of Grimshaw, M.D. of Peace #135, and the Village of Berwyn.

  • Nominators are welcome to nominate their own business or themselves, as no one knows your contributions better than you do.

  • Nominators are welcome to nominate multiple businesses/individuals or nominate a business in more than one category.

  • Nominators are welcome to send a written submission outlining how their nominee fits the judging criterion.

 

Nominee General Eligibility:

  • Businesses must be within the district of the Town of Grimshaw, M.D. of Peace #135, And the Village of Berwyn.

  • Businesses must be in operation at the time of the awards.

  • Must not have previously won in the same category within the last two (2) years.

  • Grimshaw and District Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to reallocate nominees into the appropriate Award Category if the nomination is determined to be ineligible in the category submitted.

  • Businesses do not need to be a Chamber Member to be nominated or to win. *Chamber members do receive 2 extra points in the scoring process.

 

Judging:

  • Once nominations close, qualified nominees will be divided into public voting (Community Champion, Best Customer Service) and peer review.

  • Public voting nominees will be listed on the Grimshaw and District Chamber of Commerce Facebook page, from where residents within our service community may cast their vote.

  • Peer review categories nominees will be listed on the Grimshaw and District Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. Their nominations will be reviewed and evaluated by a judging committee composed of, but not limited to, members of the Grimshaw and District Chamber of Commerce executive.

  • During the judging process, Chamber members who have had their business or group nominated in a particular category will be expected to recuse themselves, and will be prohibited from lobbying for their business or group.

 

Award Categories:

John Clague Business of the Year- awarded to an established company demonstrating continual business excellence through positive growth and industry leadership while exemplifying superior customer service, excellent marketing strategies, a commitment to quality, contributes to local employment, and shows an outstanding spirit and commitment to the development and growth of the Grimshaw and greater area community. The nominee shows a high level of social, cultural, inclusivity, and environmental awareness and engages in continual educational opportunities to advance both their employees and their business within their respective industry. Business must operate in the Town of Grimshaw or Village of Berwyn or Municipal District of Peace 135 and be in operation for a minimum of 2 years. Should be a member of the Grimshaw and District Chamber of Commerce.

This award is selected from all business of the year nominees, whether large or small, and determined by consensus of the judging panel.

Best Large Business- is presented to an outstanding business that  employs 10 people or more  and exhibits excellence in their respective industries and embodies the spirit of the business community. Nominees in this category excel in various aspects, including creating an exceptional work environment, consistently delivering a superb customer service experience, showcasing innovation to surpass customer needs and expectations, all while achieving astonishing business performance. Business of the Year nominees also prioritize community investment as a fundamental core value and excel in fostering valuable relationships with customers, employees, as well as other community leaders and stakeholders who share the same core values.

Best Small Business- is presented to an outstanding business that  employs 9 people or less  and exhibits excellence in their respective industries and embodies the spirit of the business community. Nominees in this category excel in various aspects, including creating an exceptional work environment, consistently delivering a superb customer service experience, showcasing innovation to surpass customer needs and expectations, all while achieving astonishing business performance. Business of the Year nominees also prioritize community investment as a fundamental core value and excel in fostering valuable relationships with customers, employees, as well as other community leaders and stakeholders who share the same core values.

Best Berwyn Business-  is presented to an outstanding business that  exhibits excellence in their respective industries and embodies the spirit of the business community. Nominees in this category excel in various aspects, including creating an exceptional work environment, consistently delivering a superb customer service experience, showcasing innovation to surpass customer needs and expectations, all while achieving astonishing business performance. Business of the Year nominees also prioritize community investment as a fundamental core value and excel in fostering valuable relationships with customers, employees, as well as other community leaders and stakeholders who share the same core values. Nominees in this category must be located within the Village of Berwyn.

Employee of the Year- is presented to an employee who continuously works toward the success and betterment of your business, whether they are forward customer facing, or are back-of-house staff you would not succeed without. Nominators are expected to write a letter outlining why the employee they are nominating should be considered for this award.

Best Non-Profit- is presented to a non-profit organization, group, club, or committee that exemplifies excellence and innovation in their projects and partnerships. Nominees in this category showcase unwavering dedication to growth, expanded programs, community engagement, and sustainable practices in pursuit of their vision and mission.

 

Community Champion-  presented to a business, club, organization, not for profit or individual that prioritizes community investment as a fundamental core value, showcasing their unwavering commitment to enriching our community. Nominees in this category epitomize a profound sense of community-mindedness and generosity, as evidenced by their significant contributions of time, expertise, and resources aimed at enhancing and fostering the growth of our community. This category will be voted on by the public at large.

 

Best Customer Service- is presented to a business that exemplifies an unwavering commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction. Nominees in this category consistently deliver an exceptional customer service experience and demonstrate remarkable success in fostering and nurturing strong customer relationships. The winning business goes above and beyond to provide their customers with outstanding service in their everyday operations and shows leadership in setting high service standards for their peers as well as all businesses in the Grimshaw, Berwyn, and MD of Peace area. This category will be voted on by the public at large.
